That time a squirrel built a nest mid-flue and I found out the hard way

Was doing a routine sweep on a rental in Akron last Tuesday, ran the brush up and it jammed about 8 feet in. Pulled it out to find a wad of leaves, twigs, and a half-eaten acorn stuck to the bristles. Ended up using a shop vac with a narrow nozzle taped to a pole to suck it all out, took an extra hour but saved the homeowner from a chimney fire. Anyone else had critters stash stuff in weird spots, and what's your go to for clearing it?
