Ran my first batch of parts at 80 percent feed and the finish came out better
Been running the same 6061 bracket for two months at full speed on the VF2. Last Tuesday I backed the feed down to 80 percent just to baby a dull end mill until the new ones came in. The finish looked like glass compared to what I usually get, and the chip color was way more consistent. Spent an hour digging through the speed and feed chart after that and realized I had been pushing the roughing passes way too hard the whole time. Anybody else figure out their best finish by accident like that?
