I finally ditched my smart thermostat after it locked me out at 3am in Austin

The app update failed mid-summer and left the AC at 84 for two days, so I went back to a dumb $30 programmable model, has anyone else had a smart home gadget cause more hassle than it saved?

Is it just me, or do all these "smart" gadgets break right when you need them most? I've seen it happen with door locks, lights, even a fridge, and the dumb version always seems to win in the end.
