PSA: that $200 paintless dent repair class at the swap meet in Reno saved my fender
I always thought PDR was some black magic that only pros with $10k in tools could do. But last fall at the Hot August Nights swap meet in Reno, a guy named Dale was selling a 3 hour class for $200, and I figured why not. He showed me you can pop a quarter sized ding with just a $30 glue puller kit and a heat gun, no drilling or bondo. I practiced on a spare hood for two weekends, then fixed a door ding on my 68 Chevelle that a shop quoted me $450 to repair. It took me 40 minutes and you cannot even tell it was there. Now I look at every parking lot dent as money in my pocket. Has anyone else tried learning PDR from a swap meet guy, or am I the only one who got lucky with a good teacher?
