Overheard a dive supervisor trash talking dry gloves at breakfast

Was at a diner before a 0600 dive in Port Fourchon last week and this old supervisor two tables over was telling a green hat that dry gloves were for 'people who don't know how to swap air in their suits.' I used to agree, always ran wet gloves even in 45 degree water and just dealt with the numb fingers after 20 minutes. But then my buddy loaned me a set of those cheap rubber glove liners with the metal cuff rings for a salvage job on a mussel-encrusted piling. First dive I kept full dexterity for the whole 90 minutes and my hands weren't shaking when I came up. That guy's 'shortcut' talk made me realize I was just proud about being uncomfortable for no reason. Anyone else flip on gear they swore was soft, or did I just have a bad rotation of gloves before?
