Honestly I always trusted the app when it said my 7:15 was 2 minutes out. Last Tuesday I stood at the Montrose and 3rd stop in Houston for 22 minutes watching that little bus icon hop around like it was on a sugar rush, then the actual bus pulled up with the driver still eating a breakfast taco. Ngl I asked him about it and he said the GPS pings when the bus leaves the depot, not when it gets to your stop, so if there is traffic on Westheimer the app has no clue. Tbh the "live map" is basically a guess that only updates every 90 seconds, and if two buses run the same route the icons stack on top of each other and look like one bus. I started using the text message stop code instead (the one printed on the pole) and it is way more honest, it gives you a real countdown based on when a driver actually taps their fare card. Has anyone else found a trick that works better, or do you all just show up 10 minutes early and pray like I used to?
