Vent: the 7:15 express out of Union Station is NOT faster than the local and I'm done pretending
Everyone on my platform in Chicago swears the 7:15 express saves them 15 minutes, but I timed it for two weeks straight and it got me to Ogilvie at the same time as the 7:05 local. The express just sits in the same signal jam outside Western Ave while you stand there packed in with no seats. I switched back to the local and now I actually get a seat and finish my coffee. Has anyone else clocked this or am I just riding the wrong express?
Two weeks of timing is more data than anyone else on that platform has, lol. The 7:15 gets stuck behind the same Western Ave signal mess as everything else, so the “express” label is doing all the work. You’re not riding the wrong train, you just figured out the schedule is marketing. I’ve heard the same gripe from people who take the 7:40 and swear it’s faster, then stand the whole way in. A seat and a finished coffee beats saving zero minutes every time.
