Old sidewalk tear out showed me my mix was off the whole time

Pulled up a 30 foot stretch of walk in Boise that I poured maybe 5 years back and the bottom 2 inches were soft, chalky stuff while the top looked fine. Turns out the finisher I had on that job was adding water at the chute to keep it moving, and that extra slump sank the cream. Anyone else ever dig up your own pour and find a nasty surprise hiding underneath?
