My aunt told me to always use a color remover before a big change, and she was right.
I had a client who wanted to go from black box dye to a pastel pink, and I was ready to just bleach it. My aunt, who ran a salon for 30 years, said 'You'll fry it, use a remover first.' I listened, and it lifted so much cleaner with way less damage. Anyone have a favorite remover brand they trust for stubborn color?

My aunt saved me from a similar disaster when I tried to go platinum from dark brown. Ngl, my hair would have turned to straight up cotton candy without that step. It's wild how much old-school salon knowledge just works. I still picture that first failed attempt as my personal hair crime scene.

Fry it" is right, I learned that the hard way on my own hair. My bathroom looked like a science fair project gone wrong. Your aunt is a genius for that advice.

My friend tried to bleach out her own dark red dye without a remover first. It turned this awful orange mush and started breaking off in chunks. She had to cut it super short, it was a total mess. Watching that go down made me a true believer in the color remover step. I don't have a favorite brand but I tell everyone to just do it.
