Rant: the guy with the storage unit full of VHS tapes in Allentown made me change my mind about meeting strangers
I used to always meet people in a parking lot with a friend nearby, no exceptions. Then two weeks ago I drove out to Allentown to grab a $40 CRT TV from this guy who listed a whole storage unit of old VHS tapes too. I almost turned around when he said come inside the unit, but it was 95 degrees out and he had a little fan going, so I said fine. We ended up talking for like an hour about his dad's tape collection and he threw in a box of 30 tapes for free, and none of it was weird at all, just a normal guy cleaning out a unit before the rent went up. Nothing bad happened, and I kept waiting for the catch that never came. Now I'm second guessing my whole rule about never going past the parking lot. How do you all figure out when it's safe to just walk in and look around, or do you never do it no matter what?
