I wrote one prompt a day for 30 days and the weird ones got the best stories
I gave myself one rule back in April: write a prompt every morning before work, no skipping. Day 19 was "a person who apologizes to furniture" and that one turned into 2,000 words in a single sitting, way more than anything I got from the "deep" prompts about loss and memory. The whole batch is sitting in a Google doc and I still go back to the furniture one first. What's the weirdest prompt that ever got you writing for real?
The furniture apology thing is so real, my dumbest one was "a guy who's mildly annoyed at clouds" and I cranked out like 1500 words without even trying. The heavy prompts always make me freeze up but give me something stupid and my brain just goes.
