Prompt gone sideways at 2 AM, RIP my submission
Was doing a last minute prompt about a haunted laundromat for a contest. Got 800 words in, loved the vibe. Then my laptop did that thing where it updates without asking. I had autosave on but it kept the old version from 3 hours ago. Lost the whole twist ending. I was at my kitchen table in Des Moines at 2 AM, staring at the screen like an idiot. Rebuilt it in 45 minutes but the rewrite sounded flat. Has anyone else lost a better draft to a dumb update and just gave up on the piece entirely?
