Thought AI writing prompts were overhyped till I ran 100 of them

I was super skeptical when that GPT-3 writing prompt tool hit the forums about 6 months ago. Kept thinking it was just a gimmick for lazy writers who can't plot. Then last week I gave it a shot with a specific prompt about a detective in a rainy city. It generated 7 unique story hooks in under 2 minutes, and 3 of them actually got me excited to write. Tried another prompt for a sci-fi romance setup and got a solid 800 word opening that only needed light editing. I still think most AI writing tools are overhyped, but that one turned me around. Has anyone else had a prompt generator surprise you with something good?

That reminds me of the time I messed around with one of those old text prediction things back in like 2019, before all this fancy AI stuff was mainstream. Punching in "a space pirate" and a few keywords gave me back something about a space captain who was secretly a sentient toaster looking for its missing bread slot. Honestly made me laugh so hard I saved it, and I still can't look at my own kitchen toaster the same way. Those earlier models were total junk for serious work, but sometimes they'd spit out something pure gold by accident. So yeah, that random weirdness is what hooked me too, even though most of the time it's a total dud.

Isn't it funny how the weirdest glitches end up being the most memorable, @leow90?
