Just realized my neighbor has been giving away free firewood for months
I was driving past old man Murphy's place on Elm Street in Manchester last week and saw a sign that said free firewood. Stopped and asked him about it, he said he's been putting it out every Saturday morning since October. I've been buying those bundles at the gas station for $8 a pop all winter. Anybody else got a neighbor who does this sort of thing?

Bet your neighbor's gas station firewood was kiln-dried too, right? Old man Murphy's stuff is probably still a bit green since he didn't season it properly, so it'll hiss and pop more and burn faster. You might've actually saved money in the long run by buying those $8 bundles if his free wood has too much moisture and you're going through twice as much. Keep an eye out this spring though - he might start putting out split logs that've been drying all winter, that's when the real good free stuff shows up.

Yeah man, a buddy of mine got burned on that exact same thing with Shane Wilson's old wood.
