Swapped my price alert app for a plain spreadsheet, saved $14 last month
I used to trust a deal tracker that pinged me constantly. Half the alerts were junk or already sold out. Then I started logging prices for 5 items I actually wanted in a free Google Sheet. Took 10 minutes a week. The sheet caught a $64 air fryer dropping to $50 while the app never flagged it. Anyone else find simple tracking beats the fancy tools?
So you only tracked 5 items... what happens when you actually want to rotate in new stuff or seasonal stuff comes up? I feel like that's where the apps kinda win, because they're always scanning everything. But hey, if you're disciplined about exactly what you want, maybe that's the whole secret. How long did it take you to build that spreadsheet format before it actually started paying off?
