Can we talk about how a 20 minute chat at a Detroit sheet metal shop reframed my whole take on networking?
Was grabbing lunch near the shop on Gratiot last week and got talking to an older guy who runs a small stamping operation over in Warren. He told me he's landed 3 of his biggest contracts just from coffee with other owners, not from any fancy mixer or leads group, and he doesn't even have a website. That hit different because I've been dumping $300 a month into a lead gen service and getting maybe one decent call out of it. Real talk, has anyone else had better luck with plain old one on one coffee meetups around here than the paid networking events?
