The guy running the Thursday morning group at the diner on Woodward told me to stop pitching
I went to the Detroit Business Networking meetup at the diner on Woodward for 5 straight Thursdays and every time I sat down I launched into my elevator pitch within 30 seconds, until Jim pulled me aside and said "you're talking at people, not to them." So the next week I left the pitch at home and just asked folks what was slow in their business, and I walked out with 3 real conversations instead of 12 business cards. Has anyone else had a group organizer call them out like that, and did changing how you show up actually lead to anything?
