Rant: Bought a $600 snap-on scan tool and it barely does more than my $200 matco one

I dropped 600 bucks on that snap-on scanner thinking it'd be a game changer but it still can't read half the modules on my 2018 Freightliner and now I'm stuck with a paperweight - anyone else get burned by overpriced diagnostic gear?

Have you checked if there's a firmware update that specifically addresses the 2018 Freightliner? A buddy of mine had the same issue with his snap-on, sat on it for a month until a new update dropped and suddenly it read everything. Snap-on pulls that crap on purpose sometimes, they lock certain features behind updates to make you think you need a whole new tool when really they just want you to pay for software. Might be worth digging into their support forum or calling them directly before declaring it a total loss.

Lock certain features behind updates" yeah like paywalling your own damn scanner. Real smooth, Snap-on.
