Hot take: That "fix your composition" critique wrecked my art for a month
Someone in my digital art group told me my focal point was too centered and boring, so I spent two weeks moving everything around to the rule of thirds. Now my pieces look unbalanced and weird, and I miss the old style. Has anyone else tried to follow a specific crit and regretted it?

Oh man, the "fix your composition" thing got me bad too lol. I spent like a whole week resizing my canvas to get that perfect rule of thirds grid setup and ended up with this awkward empty space on one side that made no sense for my character pose. What I learned the hard way is that you can center things if the background or lighting gives it enough interest around the edges. Maybe try bringing back one or two elements from your old centered layout and see if it clicks again. Some rules are meant to be broken, especially if your original vibe was working.
