Just realized my color calibration was off by 3 years

I spent about 4 hours adjusting a digital painting last week trying to get the skin tones right. Turns out my monitor had drifted so bad that what looked warm to me was actually cold on other screens. I finally borrowed a colorimeter from a friend and it showed my calibration was from 2021 and totally useless now. The fix took 10 minutes and suddenly all my recent work made sense. Has anyone else dealt with monitor drift messing up their art without noticing for a long time?

Oh man, those 2021 color profiles were a rough time for everyone. I had a similar rude awakening when I printed a batch of stickers and they came back looking like they were dipped in blue raspberry slushie. My monitor had drifted so far into the cold zone that my "warm skin tones" were basically Smurf blue. Borrowed a calibrator from a buddy and yeah, the fix was embarrassingly fast for the amount of headaches it could have saved me. Now I set a reminder on my phone to recalibrate every 3 months (even though I'll probably forget by next week).

Same thing happened to me with a batch of wedding invites last year. Thought I had this warm beige going on and they came out looking like a faded green avocado. Calibrator fixed it in like two minutes and I felt so dumb for not doing it sooner. I have a calendar alert now too, but I swear my phone just vibrates and I ignore it half the time.
