PSA: AI upscalers wrecked 3 of my old drawings before I figured out the right workflow
I spent last Sunday running 8 of my old 72dpi sketches from 2019 through a free AI upscaler because everyone in a Discord server swore it was the magic fix for blurry lineart. Six of them came back with weird melted eyes and smeared hatching, and I almost posted a long rant about how the whole thing is a scam until a guy named Dev in the comments showed me to upscale the lineart and the flats on separate layers with different settings, which fixed 90 percent of the problems. Curious if anyone here has a go-to order for upscaling, like do you clean up noise first or just let the model handle it?
