The tablet screen I replaced for $60 turned out to be the wrong size

I bought a used Cintiq 16 off Craigslist in Seattle, and the digitizer was cracked. I ordered a replacement screen from a parts site without double checking the model number, it was for the 16 Pro. Spent 4 hours carefully swapping it only to have the image offset by half an inch. I finally looked up the service manual and saw the gap, that taught me to verify part numbers before buying anything for a digital art setup. Has anyone else bricked a good tablet trying to save a few bucks?
