Took 6 hours to fix a PS5 HDMI port I thought was a 30 minute job
Pulled the old port off in like 10 minutes with my hot air station. Then spent 3 hours fighting the solder mask on the board. My flux kept balling up and the new port kept shifting. Ended up having to use a stencil and fresh solder paste from a tube I bought online. Has anyone else found the PS5 HDMI board way harder to rework than the Xbox Series X one?

That stencil you ended up using, was it the pre-cut mylar kind or did you just lay a regular stencil over the whole board? I'm asking because I had the opposite problem on the Series X, the pads lifted way too easy on that one, but the PS5 just had this weird sticky solder resist that wouldn't take flux right. Curious if your board had that same almost matte finish on the HDMI area that just eats heat. What temp were you running your iron at when you finally got the paste to flow?
