I thought painting my kitchen cabinets was going to be a huge mess

I was dreading the clean up from sanding before priming. My neighbor in Austin told me to just use a degreaser called TSP and a scuff pad instead of sanding. I tried it on one cabinet door, and the primer stuck perfectly! I did the whole kitchen in a weekend with almost no dust. Has anyone else skipped the sanding step on laminate cabinets?

My buddy Mark tried that TSP trick on his old laminate bathroom vanity last year. He was convinced the paint would peel right off, but he went for it. Two years later, that thing still looks brand new, no chips or anything. He said the scuff pad left just enough tooth for the primer to grab onto. Totally saved him a dusty nightmare in a small bathroom.

Yeah that scuff pad trick is key. I did the same thing on my kitchen cabinets and they've held up for three years now, @robert_smith36. What primer did Mark end up using?
