Passed the 300 solder joint mark on my phone repairs and still can't get it right
So I've been fixing phones as a side thing for about 2 years now. Last night I hit joint number 300 on a charge port replacement for an old Galaxy. You'd think by now I'd have the heat and timing down. But nope, I still lifted a pad on the third try and had to jump a wire to the test point. It worked in the end but it took me like 45 minutes for what should be a 20 minute job. The weird part is my success rate is actually fine, maybe 85 percent, but I keep making the same dumb mistake when I rush. Anyone else hit a number like this and realize you're just plateauing on technique? How do you break past it without buying a crazy expensive station?

85 percent success rate is honestly pretty solid for what you're doing. Most people that do 300 joints either get lucky or they've already fried a board or two. The fact that you're hitting 85 percent means your technique is probably fine, you're just too worried about the clock. 45 minutes on a charge port isn't awful either, most shops would take that long if they're being careful. Plateauing on solder is normal, it's not like you're gonna suddenly get 100 percent and never lift another pad. That one pad you lifted sounds more like a bad board than a bad habit.
