My plumber buddy in Cincinnati said 'a good taper makes my job look easy' and it's stuck with me.
He told me that after seeing my clean work around a tricky shower valve, he didn't have to fight the trim plate at all, which made me realize our prep work is half the battle for the next trade.

Man, that's so true. Good prep is a gift to the next guy.

Last year I found a binder in my attic from the old homeowner. It had paint colors, appliance manuals, and even the wifi password for the security system. Felt like I won the lottery, lol. That binder saved me from so many headaches when the furnace acted up. I still think about how much time that person saved me.

Ever open a project box and find everything labeled and sorted? That feeling is pure gold. I once helped a friend set up a home theater after the previous owner left detailed notes on every wire. Saved us hours of guesswork. It's like they knew the next person would be lost without a map. That kind of thoughtfulness is just so rare, but it makes all the difference. You really remember the people who go that extra step.
