Tried to save time with a push-in wire connector on a 12 gauge circuit...

Was wiring a new ceiling fan for a buddy in Phoenix last month. Figured those push-in Wago-style connectors would be fast and easy. Got it all hooked up and the fan turned on but kept flickering every 5 minutes. Spent an hour troubleshooting before I realized one of the connectors wasn't fully seated on the copper. That wire popped right out when I tugged on it. Never trust those things on solid 12 gauge without double checking every connection. Anybody else had push-ins fail on thicker wire?

Honestly yeah, I've had those pop out too.

Has anyone looked at whether it's the specific shape of these things that makes them pop out, not just the material? I noticed the ones with a more rounded edge never gave me trouble, but the sharper corner ones would always slip loose after a while. I ended up taking a nail file to mine (gently, obviously) and shaved down the rough edges, and they stay put way better now. Might be worth checking yours closer next time it happens.
