I finally stopped fighting the new code on fire alarm integration

Back in the day, we'd just wire the shunt trip directly, but after a failed inspection in Denver last year, I learned the hard way about listed interface modules. Anyone else still adjusting to the newer NFPA 72 stuff?

Yeah, our foreman was just talking about the 2022 NFPA 72 code cycle. He said the rules for listed relay modules for elevator recall got way more specific, like down to the exact model numbers from the fire alarm panel maker. It's a pain to stock all the different ones now.

So does that mean you can't even use a relay from the same brand if it's not the exact listed part number for that panel? I mean, I get wanting it to be right, but that sounds like a huge inventory headache for bigger shops that work on lots of different systems.

See, I get why they did that though. It stops people from just grabbing any random relay that might not work right in a real fire. Worth the extra hassle to know it's done safe.
