What did you expect from a charger that costs less than a pizza? That thing was probably built with parts from a toaster. Universal just means it fits in the hole, not that it knows what to do once it's in there. My buddy bought one that made his phone smell like burnt plastic.

Yeah, "universal just means it fits in the hole" is the perfect way to put it... It's like a key that turns but doesn't actually unlock anything. Those cheap things just blast power until something gives up.

Ugh, same thing happened to my old mp3 player! Those cheap chargers are basically little bombs for your electronics.
