Auger bit snapped on a hidden boulder yesterday

Drilling holes for the fence and my auger bit snapped on a hidden boulder. Threw off my whole day and cost me a new tool.

My uncle in Montana always uses a metal rod to probe for rocks before drilling. It's like what @hannah_anderson82 said, but with extra steps to save your tools.

Remember that guy who snapped his masonry bit last summer? My buddy did exactly that, hit a granite slab he didn't check for first. Was a total loss.

Check for boulders first, saves your bit and day lol.
