Unpopular opinion: I stopped using a standard chalk line for big tile jobs after a kitchen in Denver

I was laying a 400 square foot herringbone pattern and my old line kept snapping or getting fuzzy. A guy on site showed me his Tajima Pro Chalk Reel, and the difference was night and day. The line was way stronger and the chalk dust didn't bleed into the grout joints. Has anyone else switched to a specific brand for layout work?

Just chalk on a string"? That fuzzy line can ruin your layout.

Night and day" seems like a stretch for a chalk line. It's just chalk on a string at the end of the day. A good line helps, but it's not gonna make or break a whole tile job.

My buddy skipped the chalk line on his bathroom floor once, @lisa_hart26. He spent the whole weekend fixing wonky tiles that started in the wrong spot.
