I thought 'The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.' was a dumb western, but the sci-fi stuff hooked me
I caught a rerun on a random cable channel and the episode with the orb from the future completely changed my mind. That show was way ahead of its time in 1993. Anyone else remember the weird charm of Bruce Campbell fighting outlaws with alien tech?

Remember thinking the same thing, then that orb episode hit and I felt like a total fool for sleeping on it. Bruce Campbell trying to explain future tech to cowboys was the best mix of dumb and smart. Honestly, I'm still mad it only got one season.

That orb episode was pure genius. They nailed the comedy of someone from our time dealing with basic survival stuff, like trying to explain germ theory to people who still use leeches. Honestly the whole show was a masterclass in mixing sci-fi with western tropes without being cheesy. Still can't believe a network canceled something that clever.
