Client came in with fried ends from a new curling iron technique

Honestly, I had a woman in my chair yesterday and her ends were totally fried from a viral heat styling method. Tbh, she was using a curling iron on soaking wet hair to get that beach wave look. Ngl, it caused so much breakage we had to trim over four inches. I've heard from two other stylists this week with similar stories. Please warn your clients to always dry hair fully before using hot tools. It might seem faster, but the damage isn't worth it. Stick to styling on dry hair to keep those ends healthy.

How do we always talk ourselves into bad shortcuts?

But is it really that bad every time? I know a few girls who always curl damp hair and their hair seems fine. Yeah heat on wet hair isn't great, but a one time thing causing four inches of damage sounds extreme. Maybe it was already damaged or she cranked the heat way too high. Sometimes these warnings make it sound like you'll ruin your hair forever from one mistake, but in reality it's more about how often you do it.
