Hot take: Secret mountain trails give better hikes than famous parks
I have been using a quiet path in the hills near my town for my weekend walks. Some say these lesser known spots are perfect for fitness because you avoid crowds and connect with nature. For instance, the fresh air and views make the exercise feel easy. Others argue that marked trails in popular parks are safer and have facilities, which helps keep workouts steady. I go back and forth since the hidden route is inspiring but lacks signs. Which type of place do you prefer for staying active? I am curious to hear your takes on undiscovered versus well known areas.

Unmarked trails for your regular hikes? That's how people need rescue teams. I'd never trust a path without clear markers.

Actually, a paper map and compass are lifesavers when trails aren't marked. Always let someone know your plan before you go. In my view, that's smarter than trusting signs that might not be there.

Yeah the whole "never trust a path without markers" thing reminds me of this time I followed a clearly marked trail that just... ended. Like the signs were there but they led to a washed out creek bed. Sometimes the markers are wrong or old. You gotta pay attention to the land itself more than the signs.
