Hot take: that vintage hand crank drill I picked up for $8 is way smoother than my electric one

Found this old Stanley model at a garage sale in Newton last Saturday. Figured it'd be a fun shelf decoration or maybe for some tiny pilot holes. Tried it on a piece of pine board and the thing just glides through. No vibration, no cord to wrestle with, and I can feel exactly when I'm about to punch through the back. My regular drill chatters like crazy on small bits under 1/8 inch. Anyone else ditch their power tools for old school stuff on small jobs?

lol that reminds me of when my grandpa showed me his old Yankee screwdriver from the 50s. Thing looked like a toy but it would drive a screw through oak like butter. I tried using it once and stripped the hell out of the slot cause I was used to my impact driver just blasting everything in. Took me a while to figure out you gotta go slow and let the tool do the work. These old tools definitely teach you patience.

Huh, my buddy Mike found the same thing with an old brace drill he picked up.
