inI finally fixed my monitor wobble after 8 months of annoyance
Same issue with my solid core door desk. Tried a few different clamp designs but none could grip that thick edge. Ended up bolting a small steel plate to the underside of the desk to give the clamp a solid surface to grab onto.

inThat oak removal near the power lines at Grant Park changed my whole approach
Honestly yeah, @sarahpatel has a point. I called 811 once because I figured better safe than sorry and the lady on the phone asked me if I was digging a hole for a mailbox. I said no, I'm just trying to hang a bird feeder pole. She laughed and said they get calls for all sorts. So even if you're not a pro, they don't care who you are. They just want to know where the lines are.

inTried a Japanese pull saw after years of using a Western handsaw for trim work
Oh man, "zero tear-out" is exactly what hooked me. I was fighting with a western saw on some gnarly old fir trim in a house from the 20s and that thin blade slicing through clean, no chatter, just a straight cut... it felt like cheating. It's not just you at all, there's something about the pull motion that keeps the blade tracking straight, especially on end grain. Plus the kerf is so thin you don't feel like you're fighting the wood, it just glides. I'm never going back for finish work, that's for sure.

inHot take: wet aged beef beats dry aged for most home cuts
Wet bagging is the way to go for home cooks. I do a 21 day wet age on sirloin tips and they come out super tender without losing half the meat to trim. My husband was mad about the vacuum sealer noise but he got over it when dinner was good. Cheap cuts like chuck or bottom round benefit way more from dry aging than pricey steaks ever will.

inI started telling my boss what I was working on before he could ask
paule53 you can't be serious. Man writes a 5 minute email and you're acting like he signed over his firstborn child. The time he saves not getting derailed by constant check-ins way more than makes up for those few minutes. And @oscarb71 is spot on, this is just basic communication. If your boss is gonna use a "paper trail" against you for missing a week or a tiny detail, that's a trust problem that would show up either way, not something caused by a simple update email.
