My cousin told me to skip the new Spider-Man run and I'm glad I didn't listen

My rule is to give it three episodes or fifty pages before I decide.

I was convinced my code needed more comments, then a friend showed me his screen

Ever think about how too many comments can actually make a script harder to update? If you change the logic, you have to remember to change the comment too, or they get out of sync. I agree with @paulw63 about explaining the "why", but I'd add that a good test name can sometimes replace a comment entirely, like test_calculates_tax_for_edge_case().

Unpopular opinion: people are paying way too much for old Pyrex at the flea market

Nah, I get more of a dusty parking lot vibe. Feels like any other town to me, nothing really wild west about it.

I used to watch shows with my phone out and missed a huge plot point in 'Severance'

Spot on. We treat shows like background music while our brains are on other tabs. I did it with Dark, just had it on while cooking, and got totally lost on who was who across time. Had to start over and actually watch the faces, the little objects in scenes. It's wild how much story is told without a single word being said. We're missing the whole picture by only giving it half our eyes.

I finally asked my 8 year old nephew why he hated my 'fancy' scrambled eggs.

Kids have no filter at all, it's wild. My nephew told me my pasta sauce looked like mud once, totally crushed me. I found the best thing is to just lean into it and ask them to help you make it better next time, turns it into a game. Rosek44 has a point about where they get these ideas, like bathwater, that's a mystery for sure. Getting them involved in the cooking usually stops the harsh reviews, or at least you get a fun story out of it.
