Just realized my quick fix for a squeaky floor made things worse
Lately I've noticed more people trying to handle floor issues themselves to save cash. I had this annoying squeak in my living room, so I watched a few videos and thought I could fix it from below in the crawl space. I grabbed some wood screws and went under there, aiming for the joists where I thought the noise was coming from. Problem was, I didn't map out the exact spot well enough and ended up driving screws into the wrong parts. Now the squeak is still there, but I also put a bunch of holes in the subfloor for no reason. It's a real mess because I have to patch those holes and still figure out the real source. I guess the trend of DIY floor repairs needs more caution than I gave it. Next time I'll probably call a pro instead of rushing in blind.
