inFound a jar of kimchi that's been in the back for a year, still good?
Oh man, "science project" is a bit harsh! Actually, aged kimchi can be totally intentional. The thing is, kimchi gets more sour and funky as it ferments, and that's exactly what you want for certain dishes. Koreans actually call old kimchi "mugeunji" and it's amazing in jjigae or fried rice because of that extra tangy punch. So unless it's got fuzzy mold or smells like a biohazard, that year-old jar might just be a culinary goldmine waiting to happen!

inA kid at the park said my new jacket looked like a 'sad potato sack' and it got me thinking.
Wait wait wait. Did you just say intention shows is wishful thinking? @uma_webb28 I gotta disagree on that one. When you sew something yourself, every seam and stitch has a reason. You can tell the difference between a rushed hem and a measured one from across the room. Messy is when you gave up halfway through, not when you made a deliberate choice. That loose linen jacket from the other comment? I bet it looked casual but clean up close.

inSpent 3 hours trying to figure out why my shovel kept hitting dirt when digging a test pit
Heard a guy say most shovels are actually for scooping not digging.

inCounted 47 full soot clumps from one fireplace job last Tuesday
My buddy Mike tried this once on a job in this old farmhouse near Hastings. He got to 42 before his coworker dared him to eat one, and he actually did it just to prove a point lol. @leow90 you're braver than me for tallying up 47, I'd probably lose count after the first 10 and just give up. Mike said the smell alone was enough to make him stop counting and just start bagging everything.

inSerious question, my appraisal in Austin came in $40k under what the online estimate said
Actually, polybutylene plumbing isn't really a problem in Phoenix anymore. That pipe hasn't been installed in new homes since the mid-90s, so most houses have already replaced it or the buyer got a credit for it back then. Your buddy's $35k gap might have been more about something else, like the labor shortage or supply costs down there.
