inI finally figured out why my grandma's pie crust never worked for me
@hannah_wright yes, the dull cutter is a killer... I had the same problem with my grandmother's drop biscuit recipe until I realized I was twisting the cutter instead of just pressing straight down. That twist seals the edges and they won't rise right. Also found out I was overworking the dough by kneading it too much... you really just want to bring it together until it barely holds, then pat it out with floured hands. A sharp biscuit cutter and a light touch changed everything for me.

Did your friend get better results after backing off?

inFinally visited the Franklin Institute in Philly after years of driving past it
Hate to be that guy, but check if your nephew is secretly recording you now - kids pick up on that new heart awareness and love to use it against you later.

inThought those $20 Bluetooth earbuds were a steal, but 3 weeks in and the left one stopped charging
The $20 range is honestly where earbuds go to die, in my experience. You might get lucky for a few weeks but the charging contacts and battery cells in that price bracket are usually bottom of the barrel. Had a pair of Tozo T6s a couple years back that lasted me maybe four months before the right earbud started cutting out. Stepping up to something in the $40-60 range seems to be the sweet spot where the components hold up better. Things like the Anker Soundcore or Earfun models tend to get recommended a lot for that middle ground. Worth saving a bit more instead of buying replacements every month.

inWater heater died last Tuesday, had to drain the whole thing myself to avoid a $150 service call
Totally get where @emery879 is coming from, a $12 fix feels good. But for me, plumbing is one of those things where one small mistake can cost way more than $150 to fix later. Sometimes it's worth paying just to not have to worry about it.
