Had to pick between a cheap tablet and a used Cintiq for my first real project

3 months ago I grabbed a used Intuos 4 off Craigslist for $60 and it had seen some things. The surface was all scratched up and the pen nib was basically gone. But honestly it's been way more reliable than my friend's new Wacom that keeps disconnecting. I get why people chase the screen experience though, that direct eye-hand thing is hard to beat. My only worry with that beat up Cintiq is how long those dead pixels stay dead before they spread. Older gear can be a steal if you're willing to fight with drivers and janky cables.

So I tried a different brand of joint compound on a basement job...

@lee_martinez97 that green lid stuff is rough for damp basements for sure.

Hit 100 vintage lamps from flea markets this weekend, didn't even mean to collect them

My lamp collection somehow hit 47 before I even realized what was happening... just little lamps from every thrift store I walked into for like three years. My partner walked in one day and asked if we were running a dimly lit bed and breakfast out of our one bedroom apartment. The weird thing is I don't even use most of them, they just sit on shelves looking pretty and collecting dust like little glass soldiers. A 1950s ceramic rooster lamp for $35 sounds like a steal though, those things go for way more online usually.

I just hit 500 bottom bracket replacements in my shop log and it made me think about how much that job has changed.

Adam, that Phil Wood story hurts just hearing it. It's brutal when you're stuck waiting on a part that should be simple but turns into a whole saga. I hope the customer was decent about it, because that kind of headache is the worst.

Best fridge dump I ever had was after a bad week at work

Wade you nailed it with the not overthinking part. The best meals I ever throw together come from staring at a half empty fridge and just grabbing whatever is left. That omelet trick with old veggies and random cheese is a game changer, never fails to save dinner. People spend way too much time planning when a simple scramble can beat a fancy recipe any day. What is the weirdest combo you have thrown in an omelet that actually worked?
