That $90 screen replacement kit turned into a nightmare

Whoa whoa whoa, let's not act like it's brain surgery or something, @williams90. Is a cracked back glass really worth a full-on crisis? I mean yeah, modern phones have glued everything together like a puzzle box, but what doesn't these days? You're making it sound like you tried to disarm a bomb. Half the fun is messing up and learning the hard way. The real question is did that heat gun get you a cool story or just a bill?

A pitmaster in Kansas City told me my rub was too sweet

@oliver719 did you notice the biggest change in how long people chewed before swallowing?

Used a zip tie to fix a stripped climbing rope lock on a job in Tacoma

Zip ties are for bundling wires, not life support. Glad it worked, but that's a one way ticket to a Darwin Award.

My manager told me to stop sending weekly project updates, and my promotion came 4 months later

Three daily updates on printer paper" is the kind of micromanaging that makes you want to hide the sharp objects from your boss. Sounds like your friend's ownership level went from "manager" straight to "prison guard.

Spent $500 on a cheap winch and it actually pulled my buddy's rig out of a ditch

Different experience for me. I bought a cheap impact wrench from Amazon. Worked great for about a month. Then it just stopped spinning. No warning, no weird noises. Just dead. The "bad rep" thing you mentioned. I get it. But I've been burned too many times. That first impression always makes me think I'm getting lucky. Then it breaks right when I need it most. For something like an air compressor for tires. Low risk. I can see taking a chance. But for anything that needs real torque or precision. I stick with name brands. Peace of mind is worth the extra cash. Glad yours worked out though. Seriously. Just know that's not everyone's story.
