My transfer case decided to retire on the I-5 near Bakersfield last Tuesday.

Had to limp it home in front-wheel drive for 60 miles. Anyone know a good shop in the Central Valley that won't just tell me to buy a whole new unit?

Tbh that sounds rough. I had a transfer case go out near Fresno and Gary's 4x4 in Clovis rebuilt mine for a fair price.

Yeah it's wild how much a good local shop can save you. Feels like the last honest business model left sometimes.

Fair price" is relative though... sometimes you're just paying for the convenience of not having to hunt down parts yourself.
