Appreciation post: My smart thermostat kept setting itself to 68 degrees
For three months, my Nest kept overriding my schedule to 68 degrees every night. I checked the settings, and it was using its own 'auto-schedule' feature based on when I manually changed the temp. I turned that feature off last week, and now it follows my actual program. It made me realize how often we assume 'smart' defaults are helpful without checking them. Has anyone else had a basic automation setting work against them like this?

Wait, 68 every single night? That's so specific. My old one used to just pick random temps, like it was guessing.

My friend's thermostat once set itself to 90 at midnight.
