The broken stuff thing is the real test of whether a tool share lasts, and paper plus a group text actually handles it better than people think. We do the same thing and the rule is simple: you break it, you tell the group, then you either fix it or you cover the repair. The overspray on your counters is exactly why I taped off way more than I needed to, prob spent an hour just on the fridge and floor. Going forward I'd spray the doors and drawer fronts outside or in the garage, then brush just the frames still hanging on the wall. Best of both, no masking nightmare.
