My GPS app kept sending me through the same flood zone in Houston, so I dug into why

I drive for DoorDash downtown and Waze routed me down Memorial Drive three times last week, straight into standing water. Turns out the AI traffic model was treating real-time flood reports as just slower traffic, not impassable blocks. Someone on the Houston subreddit pointed out the app needs curb height data and drainage info to actually learn, but they only use historical speed, not road conditions. It hit me that we trust these systems to know things they literally cant sense yet, so how are we supposed to plan around severe weather with a 20 minute warning? Has anyone else caught their nav ignoring live hazard alerts like crash debris or police closures?

Right, and that curb data point is HUGE because without it they cant tell water from road.
