Chose sheet metal screws over rivets for a patch job, wish I hadn't

Last month I was fixing a small skin crack on a Cessna out in Bakersfield and the customer was in a rush. I had a box of #6 sheet metal screws sitting right there and figured it would be quicker than bucking rivets solo. Big mistake. The screws worked fine for about a week, but then the patch started working loose and I had to redo the whole thing with proper rivets anyway. Took me twice as long in the end, plus the customer saw the sloppy look and wasn't happy. I know the rule says never use screws on structural skin, and I broke it out of laziness. Has anyone else taken the shortcut route on a patch and regretted it later?
