Hot take: I think the push for full digital logs on the line is a step back
I mean, I was at a hangar in Phoenix about a year ago when our whole crew switched to tablets for all sign-offs. It sounds good, but it added 15 minutes to every job because the system kept freezing or needing a re-login. My old paper logbook never crashed when I was trying to close up a panel at 2 AM. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like we traded speed and reliability for a fancy screen. Has anyone else found a digital system that actually works fast on the line?

Your old logbook never crashing at 2 AM is a solid point.

Man, that's brutal. So it's not just the login junk, it's the whole system slowing you down? What about when you're doing a quick turn and need to sign off a MEL item. Does the tablet make you jump through hoops for that too, or can you actually get it done fast? I heard some guys have to take pictures of every single step now.

Yeah, the MEL process is a total time sink now. You'll be stuck taking pictures and waiting for the tablet to catch up while the clock runs. Forget doing anything fast on a quick turn with that system.
