Torque wrench calibration cost me a cylinder head in Tulsa

Spent $180 on a digital torque wrench last spring because my old beam type was way off. It read 5 ft-lbs low on a cylinder head job and I found out after the engine started knocking. Anyone else trust their calibration sticker or do you budget for a shop check every year?
