A customer's 2am call about a false alarm turned into my best lesson

Last month I had a homeowner in Akron call me at 2am because their motion sensor kept tripping. When I got there, the sensor was picking up a cat walking along the top of a bookshelf. The customer was frustrated, but instead of just leaving, they asked me why I didn't check for pets during the install. I told them I usually ask, but they said they'd adopted a new cat two weeks prior. That interaction stuck with me because it taught me to add a pet checklist to every walkthrough, even if it takes an extra 5 minutes. Since then I've caught two other homes with the same issue before any late night calls. Has anyone else had a similar miss with pets or animals causing false triggers?
